I’m a thrift store shopper, always have been always will be, my boyfriend on the other hand is hates thrift store shopping preferring Winners as all his clothes must be name brand like Rocawear, Makaveli, or some other article of clothing that costs an extra $50 bucks just for the logo. I’ve never understood buying name brand clothing I have an aversion to clothing or accessories with the designers or brand name all over them, it’s such a waste of money! Why would anyone want to pay a company money to advertise for them? Maybe it’s cause I used to be a hooker and now have this thing with giving stuff away for free but to me people who walk around wearing GAP or Abercrombie and Fitch sprawled across their chest look like walking billboard ads, if I’m gonna wear a logo the company better be paying me!

One of the reasons I’ve heard over and over in defense of brand name clothing is that the clothes are often better made and more durable than no name (or cheap) clothes, yet tests by consumer organizations often show no-name clothes to be more durable and better made than brand name clothes. To be honest, I can understand why people (mostly kids) want to wear brand name/designer clothing, their sort of like a "status symbol." Wearing clothes like Chanel, Polo, Tommy Hilfiger or whatever, is a display of (real or perceived) wealth and style, and that’s okay – sad but okay – just make sure you have the money to buy those things. The problem comes when people buy a pair of ugly Jordans(show me a pair of Jordan’s that actually look good – SHOW ME!!!), for $150 just because they’re Jordans. Or when people see a cute pair of shoes in Payless and don’t buy them just because they’re from that store.
I’m glad I’m not one of those people who dish out their hard earned money clothes, I’d rather spend my money on pot (designer pot, of course) then a pair of shoes with a swooshtika sewn onto them.
Im used to those kids. Who goes to school wearing designer clothes. A&F, Gap and Guess. Im guilty of it. LOL!
Unfortunately I missed Dr.Phil, but it would be hilarious if you got on the show. My mother is a crazy thrift store shopper. The only thing I wear that has a 'good' brand name is Converse shoes.
