While standing in line at the supermarket today I started staring at the coins in my hand  and couldn’t help thinking to myself, why is the Queen of England’s face plastered all over my Canadian coinage? She’s not even from Canada, it’s kind of like having the President of France on our money, it just doesn’t make any sense especially when we have actual Canadians that could be on our money (like Tommy Douglas, Piere Trudeau, Terry Fox, myself, etc.)  Okay now, I understand that ‘officially’ the queen is our head of state, but what the hell does that mean anyway?  It’s not like she has any powers, the governor general does all the work (speaking of which, I have no idea what kind of ‘work’ the governor general does except spend $41million a year flying around the world). Anyways, I honestly think it’s high time we get rid of the monarchy.

You heard me. Let’s get rid of the monarchy. Now, I know some of you Canadians out there still have some sort of odd attachment to the Queen and to the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (now Windsor-Mountbatten). You might even feel  that she's a part of this country or even part of you. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but she's not one of us! The Queen and her family of royals are nothing more then grossly overpaid, inbred welfare bums, living in government subsidized housing. They represent nothing more than classism, inequality and the historic legacy of colonization. Anyone who thinks that the royal family is chosen by god to be rulers of the common people deserve to get run over by a Mack Truck. No self-respecting person should ever half to bow to an accident of birth.

It’s time to “throne” them out of Canada.
